Is your phone "waterproof"? The lie that will cost you €1,000 this winter.

It's winter. Rain, wind, and wet roads. You put on your waterproof suit, lace up your Gore-Tex boots, and place your latest iPhone or Samsung in the motorcycle's phone holder.
You think: "No problem. The box says it's IP68, it can withstand 30 minutes underwater. A little rain won't hurt."
WRONG.
This is the trap that thousands of motorcyclists fall into every year. And when they arrive at the store to claim the warranty with a foggy screen or a rusty charging port, they receive the shocking answer: "The warranty does not cover liquid damage."
But if it's "Waterproof," why does water get in?
The "Pressure Jet Effect"
The IP68 rating of cell phones is tested in a laboratory, in static (still) water. They submerge the cell phone in a bucket and it survives.
But riding a motorcycle in the rain isn't about standing still water . When you're traveling at 90, 100, or 120 km/h against the rain, the drops hit your cell phone with extreme force . The speed transforms the rain into a high-pressure jet .
The rubber seals (on the buttons, SIM card tray, and charging port) were not designed to withstand this pressure. The water is forcibly "pushed" into the device. It's the same principle as never washing a motorcycle with a pressure washer too close to the bearings or seals.
The Problem of a Wet Touchscreen
Even if, by some miracle, water doesn't get in, you have another practical problem: try using a wet cell phone. Water droplets on the screen confuse the touch sensor ("ghost touches"). The map starts zooming in on its own, the music changes unintentionally, and you can't click on anything. It's frustrating and dangerous.
The Solution: Leave the "Diver" in your Pocket
The Motoplay was specifically designed to withstand the elements. Its true IPX7 waterproof certification and robust construction are engineered to handle rain, hail, and mud at high speeds without flinching.
And most importantly? The Motoplay's touchscreen is resistive and optimized , meaning it works well even when wet and with gloves, unlike the sensitive glass on your smartphone.
Savings Summary:
-
Wet Smartphone: Broken Screen + Motherboard Oxidation = Garbage (Total Loss of ~€1,000) .
-
Motoplay in the Rain: Perfect navigation + a dry and safe smartphone in your jacket's waterproof pocket = Zero Worries.
Don't confuse cell phone advertising with the reality of the road. This winter, don't drown your digital companion.
